How I Got Started in the Mortgage World
At 14 years old, I begged my dad to hire me in his drive-in restaurant, the Brown Cow Drive In. He finally relented, but he didn’t go easy on me. I started out at the bottom, cleaning the post-hole in the dumpster enclosure, earning 85% of minimum wage at the time. I’m sure he enjoyed giving me that nasty job (because it was good for me), but I was determined to make him proud, so I did my best. I gritted through that first job, but eventually, I moved up into management. That’s where I learned about the power of a strong work ethic, problem solving, leading people, and taking on a challenge.
When I got into the mortgage industry in 2003, I applied those same principles I learned at my first job.
When the financial meltdown hit in 2008, I was a Mortgage Broker at the time; and was one of the last men standing when the smoke cleared. I stayed in the business when many were leaving in droves. It was hard, but it reminded me of how important it was to continue using my knowledge to help people and families get into their dream homes, no matter what was going on in the world.
Today, I’m thankful to be back to my roots as a Mortgage Broker with Edge Home Finance, one of the largest and highest-rated mortgage brokerages in America!

My wife Christy and I have two beautiful daughters, Eleni & Natalia, now in their twenties, and working hard toward their own career and life goals. In our spare time, Christy and I love to travel to visit friends and family, go RV camping, and hike in the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Mountain National Parks. I'm a huge history buff (especially Early American/Revolutionary era), so it’s always great if we can include historical landmarks in our travels! I also love to work in my backyard garden, with a small fruit orchard, where I raise honeybees too. To keep my mind and body healthy and sharp, I joined a Crossfit gym during COVID, and never left.
Doing what I do is so rewarding - and knowing I’m giving each one of my clients the best possible experience is the best feeling! I wouldn’t rather be doing anything else.
Though I’ve received thousands of referrals over the years, every time I get a call from someone new who got my name from a client of mine, I still feel so grateful for the chance to make a positive difference in that person’s life! Also, knowing someone trusted me enough to send a family member or friend of theirs my way makes my day.
